Tablet woven belt for Norwegian national costumeTablet weaving is a technique for weaving sturdy, narrow and colourful bands. The oldest finds date from the Bronze Age (as far as we know today). In the centuries that followed, from the Iron Age to the Middle Ages, the most beautiful patterns emerged, one more complicated than the other.
During this workshop we are introduced to the technique of tablet weaving. Participants learn to read patterns and the basics of tablet weaving.
If participants have their own tablet weaving cards, it is useful if they bring them (please indicate when registering, so that I know how many to bring).
